Offering evening pregnancy yoga courses in Old Alresford, Hampshire

I began practising yoga in my twenties and was immediately drawn to the sense of well-being it promoted on both a physical and emotional level. I have continued to practise ever since, but was particularly focused while I was pregnant with my eldest daughter. At the time, I could find no courses specifically for pregnancy yoga. I found the general yoga class I went to unable to provide the safe and supportive environment which I was looking for. It was this experience which inspired me to train to become a pregnancy yoga teacher.

I completed a Foundation course with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) in 1994 and then spent the following three years teaching and studying to qualify for the BWY Teacher Training Diploma. On achieving my diploma, I studied with Birthlight in London and became a qualified Birthlight teacher in 2010. During my training I was lucky enough to be mentored by Marion Symes, a well known local pregnancy yoga teacher and co-founder of Little Gems Yoga. As well as teaching yoga, I also have over twenty years experience teaching and training adults, both in the private and public sector.

I regularly attend Continuous Professional Development events with Birthlight and BWY to ensure my classes are informative and up to date. I also hold a First Aid Certificate and am fully insured to provide general and pregnancy yoga classes.

Testimonials

‘I found my pregnancy for yoga classes very useful.  I particularly enjoyed the stretching techniques we were taught and the opportunity for plenty of relaxation.   Most of all, I appreciated the chance to focus on my new baby.  Susi explains the movements and what is happening next very well.  She has a lovely manner and such a relaxing voice.’

‘During my third pregnancy, time for myself was extremely limited. My weekly yoga sessions with Susi were the highlight of a busy week when I could focus fully on myself and my baby. She taught me to control my breathing and relax, which I found difficult at first. She also helped massively with pain in my lower back, offering strengthening exercises and birthing positions which would help me. My little girl was born with no complications, no back pain, in a relaxed and controlled way. Susi is such a calming influence, she is a wonderful teacher.’
Jo Hickey

‘Susi is the most wonderful yoga teacher.  She has this ability to make everyone feel at ease and in touch with their own body again.  She teaches you by allowing you to listen to your body and letting you progress at your very own pace.  Her yoga classes feel like a sanctuary for body, mind and spirit!’

‘I have attended Susi’s general yoga classes for several years.  I love her calm and gentle manner.  She naturally puts you at ease, especially if you are new to yoga or haven’t practised for while.  I look forward to Susi’s yoga class, as I know that I will leave with a great sense of well-being.  We all take our bodies for granted – attending Susi’s classes has helped me to re-connect to mine.  I feel yoga is a real investment in my physical and mental health.’ Sally Page
